"WHAT'S LEFT OF ME" By Kat Zhang

'I should not exist. But I do.
Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t . . .

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable-hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet . . . for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.'

The idea and plot of this book was so unique! It immediately dragged me! I bought it in the first week it was released and I wanted to read it after I bought it but other books got in the way... AND NOW I FINALLY READ IT.  AND I LOVED IT.

The world Zhang created was beyond amazing!

Every body has two souls inside of them. Taking turns controlling one another, until one soul settles. What Settling is is that one soul remains dominant and the other soul becomes recessive and fades away and never comes back... Eva was the recessive soul. But she never really did fade away.

The book started off as a bit boring... but as we get to the part where Addie/Eva get to Nornand, things start to pick up and get fast-paced-ish!
I liked how Eva was developing throughout the book. She couldn't even move her fingers at first and really struggled when she did. But as we go more into the book, Eva started talking, moving, and other things Addie was in control of!
There was a tad bit of romance in the book, which was good. There was only one kissing scene... -_-

"It's a really unique, interesting premise and the way it's told is certainly different. The reader gets to experience the story from the point of view of Eva—watching and waiting, never quite in control of what's happening to the body she lives in. The writing is clear and easy to read; Zhang draws the reader in quickly with her engaging style." -Sparknotes
I liked the author's writing style!
If you're looking for a good, light, thought-provoking read, then you should definitely pick this book up if you haven't!
5 out of 5 stars! :)

I told Kat Zhang how much I enjoyed the book and asked when the second will be released, through YouTube. She replied:
"The second book will come out Fall of 2013 :) Glad you're enjoying the book!"

I'll be doing a book review of this soon in my Youtube channel! :D
